A hunter group was passing through the banks of Maa Narmada. A Britisher spotted something very unusual - a young yogi was meditating and 20 crocodiles were also resting besides him. He clicked a photograph and sent it to a News Journal. The Headlines - "A MAN WHO CAN CONTROL THE UNCONTROLABLE ".  This was the description of Swami Ram - who later became the Shankaracharya as well. He wrote a beautiful book called THE HIMALAYAN MASTERS - in which he wrote about saints and yogis who were par excellence. And who other than Neem Karoli Baba he stayed with him in Kainchi for sometime.

Swami Ram Meditating....
Swami Rama wrote " Selflessness is one of the prominent signs of a spiritual man". There was a well known Master, Neem Karoli Baba, who befriended me when I was still young. He lived in Kainchi Dhaam - he was a man who lived "HALF HERE HALF THERE"-  When someone used to come visit him he used to say "okay now you have seen me and I have seen you now - ja, ja, ja, ja  - which meant go go go go .....

Swami Rama as Shankarcharya.
Once Neem Karoli Baba was sitting and talking when one of the richest men in India came to see him - with huge amount of money. The man said to Guru Maharaj "Gurudev I have brought this for you". Maharajji spread the notes and sat on them and said "THEY ARE NOT VERY COMFORTABLE AND I DONT HAVE A FIREPLACE TO BURN THEM FOR HEAT. THEY ARE OF NO USE TO ME".

Baba returned the money to the rich and said go get some fruit. The rich man said that there is no market here. Baba said "if it cannot buy fruit it isn't money for me".

Shri Shri 1008 Neem Karoli baba Maharaj

Baba said to Swami Ram - some amount of money is important but too much will always bring misery. Hoarding money is a sin, for we are creating more poor people. Swami Ram wrote he used to love Lord Ram - and used to recite mantra which no one understood. But he was very very mysterious in his ways. I had many more delightful and funny experiences with Neem Karoli baba, which you wouldn't believe but some people who used to know him will understand him. He used to catch people "YOU WERE TALKING AGAINST ME WITH SUCH AND SUCH PERSON UNDER A TREE" and than the next word would be "go, go, go, go --- than he would cover himself with a blanket.

Maharajji

Swami Ram wrote that one day a Pharmacist was delivering some powder from Talital to Mallital. He was devotee of Neem Karoli Baba, so he stopped to see him on the way. Baba said to me swami " I am hungry" - he immediately asked "What are you carrying"... Oh baba this is poison - arsenic. But Baba snatched the powder and ate all - The Pharmacist was worried like hell - but nothing happened.... and the next day baba was like normal.

Swami Rama - the Himalayan Institute

He was a saint who was never at one place- HALF HERE HALF THERE - and when a saint is like this he would never know about the external aspects. Neem Karoli baba was always hungry - he never knew whether he was full or hungry - if you ask him he would reply I don't know -

Neem Karoli Baba Maharaj -

One day I thought " let me see how many times he can eat. That day he took forty meals at various houses. He was eating the whole day. We wanted to know his powers, and he knew what we wanted. So when anyone brought food before him he ate.

Finally I told him Baba you have eaten too much and he smiled like a child and said "IS IT".  He is not aware too much of mundane things but HE IS CONSTANTLY AWARE OF THE TRUTH.
