Indians love Coffee

People in India are tea addicts or coffee addicts. As soon as we touched down at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru we had the cravings for South Indian Filter coffee. The aroma of Coorg Coffee is indeed intoxicating. Bengaluru is an IT city now and boasts of thousands of cafes and coffee shops. But we wanted to sip a road side coffee prepared by ‘Anna’.

But for next 24 hrs we did not get a proper South Indian coffee to drink. The next day we went to a BMW showroom to enjoy a ride at the new Berlin Built R 18 superbike. John the sales manager was a great guy and he offered us to take a ride on that bike which was off course an heavenly experience.

As the ride was over we again craved for a strong coffee and to our surprise ‘Anna’ or big brother on a cycle was offering tea and coffee to many on the other side of the road. We just needed that – we swiftly moved towards him and ordered 3 cups of coffee. He took nearly 3 minutes to prepare 3 cups. As we took the first SIP – we all looked at each other and said this is the REAL South Indian taste. Wow!!! Anna was a master of brewing coffee. We ordered for 6 more cups – one by one.

Anna’s real name was Venkatraman – and has been selling coffee for the last 20 years. And to our utter surprise he was selling coffee for just Rs 7. This was insane – as we go to any cafe we would coughed out nearly Rs 250 per cup plus taxes extra. But, for Anna selling coffee is his passion and service to working people of Bengaluru. He also offered us a piece of cake – again it was heavenly. It was too soft, too tasty and too cheap. One big slice costed us just Rs 10. We bought 10 cakes from him.

If by any chance you are in Bengaluru – reach Levelle Road and sip his coffee between 5 to 6 pm in the evening. Rest everything is the taste you will enjoy
