When I first saw this picture somewhere I was hooked to it. I searched for his name and address but failed. Than one day I sent this picture to baba Narmadashankar in Onkareshwar and her comes the reply. He told me
"this holy man is a saint Siya Ram Baba - he has given up everything just to serve mankind ".
Siya Ram baba lives 40 kms away from Mortaka village where Baba Bramchari Narmadashankar lives in his ashram. Siya Ram baba lives in Teliya Bhatiyan village in Central India - Madhya Pradesh. He is in 90s and people throughout have seen him wearing only a langot - cotton loin cloth.
According to baba Narmadashankar - no one knows about his guru but yes everyone has seen him doing very hard penance. In his early years Siya Ram baba was a Khadeswari sadhu - which means he stood on one leg for 10 yrs and did everything while standing. He was doing this hard penance on the banks of Maa Narmada - so once during those 10 years a BIG flood came and the water was so high that it reached his chest. But Siya Ram baba stood there - the water came down and he carried on.
Baba Narmadashankar is a frequent visitor to this saint and he always welcomes him with his famous tea. Siyaram baba feels good when he makes tea for you.
Siyaram baba is present for everyone. He is truly concerned with people who come for Narmada Parikrama. Devotees who come to his ashram gets proper food and also some food and other necessary items for further journey. People feel amazed with this kind of gesture from a man who nearly own nothing and who wants nothing.
People who visit Siyaram baba do give him some money out of love and donations for further devotees to get food. But Siyaram baba just takes 10 rupees and return all the money and writes the name of the devotee somewhere. Than, out of those 10 rupees he will buy milk and make tea for the devotee who offered money. Once, some yoga enthusiasts from Argentina were in Baba Narmadashankar's ashram. Baba took them to Siyaram baba. The Argentines wanted to test Siyaram Baba - they offered 1000 rupees to him. He took the money and returned 990 back to them and finally his famous tea was also ready.
Baba Naramdshankar told me that recently Siyaram Baba got huge compensation for his land that came in the way of a BIG dam. He got nearly 20 Million rupees - 2 crore 18 lakhs. He laughed and donated all money - each and every penny for the upliftment of the tribal people of his area.
He is seen reciting RAM RAM RAM - all the time and is never seen in anywhere except his Banyan tree and dogs who are his constant companions. In the remotest part of India there are still yogis who are following the real Santan Dharma.
